Thrifty threads

Ah, reunited and it feels so.. good... I'm finally back with something wonderful to post. The manfriend and I went thrifting yesterday after a brilliant recommendation from Miss Siovaun <3 Be sure to stop by her blog for a good, everyday read! So here's our fabulous finds! Drum roll please...
This lovely vintage lace dress for $9 was my first find and by the look in my precious Leila's eyes, she approves. Then we found Mr. Hughton these dashing brown leather oxfards for a steal of $7. And with all this photography going on Leila couldn't help but hog the camera.

Oo-de-laly, I love thrifting.

Be sure to tune in next time.

Crafty Crafts Sneak Peek!

I'm about to get real crafty, ladies and gentlemen. I've got tons of projects in the works and I cannot wait to share them with you. So, I've decided to show a little preview.

my first two projects will be this adorable  side table made from a vintage suitcase and this beautiful wall art from ReclyArt made from paper rolls.

All I need is the materials and I will be on my way with step by step instructions so you, too, can share the beauty in your home.

My next two projects will have to wait until we move and will be displayed beautifully on our new patio!

Fresh New Outlook

Its about time for me to reenter the work force. I'm heading out on my formerly avoided job search and finally getting back on my feet. First things first, find the perfect outfit. Now, a major issue I've been facing is that a lot has happened in the past 2 years. Two big moves: first, to the big, bad city of Los Angeles from my hoboke little hometown and second, to beautiful San Diego to live with the love of my life but without knowing a single person here. And with these two big changes one thing remains the same, my wardrobe. Not by choice, of course, but a busy, expensive school schedule and no job didn't exactly allow me to revamp my outdated closet. So with a little help from this wonderful idea by Kendi Everyday, I am taking the 30 for 30 Remixes Challenge. Although I may or may not have 30 items in my closet, I am fully prepared to make this challenge work. For me its the perfect way to get the feeling of a fresh start when all I need is a fresh new outlook. Here's to a  new beginning and hopefully many more posts to come.
Thanks for tuning in and don't change that dial.

D.I.Y. Who needs creamer? Have a Candle in your Coffee

So, before I actually sit down and get into the deep stuff the New Year makes me ponder about, I just wanted to post a little D.I.Y. I thought of a while ago. So exciting... my first D.I.Y. Okay, here it goes.

Here's the premise: have you ever had so much coffee left after the expiration date you don't know what to do with it? Or just got sick of the coffee you bought and still LOVE the smell? Here's a fun, super inexpensive way to use that coffee and make your house or apartment smell amazing.

So, my numbers are missing and I couldn't find a good collage editing system to use that I could completely customize placement and everything so if any of you professional bloggers have any advice on collages, let me pick your brain, please!

  1. First, find your favorite sent of coffee in either ground or whole bean-I feel ground works a bit better. Then you'll need a clear bowl to place them in. You can find this cute fishbowlesque one at your local dollar store.
  2. Scoop the desired amount of coffee into your bowl.
  3. Usually best to fill it about half way so it will completely cover the candle you put in it.
  4. Pick your favorite candle scent. I suggest using a candle already in a glass container as opposed to tea lights or just the candle itself. You don't want the candle melting into your coffee. Although it smells twice as amazing, it doesn't last long. Before you know it the coffee has completely buried your candle and has hardened over it.
  5. Next, arrange the coffee using a knife or spoon so it sits nicely around the bowl and your candle.
  6. Display it in your favorite place of the house.
  7. Light.
  8. And enjoy!

Thanks for reading and I hope this works as well for you as it has for us.
